" LEM Phonics"
The "LEM Phonics" workshop from 16th to
19th March was conducted for primary
teachers of Green Dale School, Palzor
Namgyal Girls' School and Tashi Namgyal
Academy. This workshop was for the purpose
of initiating correctness of pronunciation
so that the students could receive a proper
foundation in the English Language. The
workshop was conducted by Mrs Evelyn Garrard
under the Resource Person Rev. Richard
Wilson (both from Australia) |

Greendale Heritage Club – 10.05.10
In order to inculcate a deeper
understanding of our natural environment,
historic surroundings, arts and culture, the
Greendale Heritage Club started functioning
on 10.05.10 under Mrs. Khusboo Raj Gurung
along with our students –

*Master Bhasker Sewa (VIII) as Vice

Painting Competition –
The Students displayed multiple talents and
a lot of creativity on the topic concerning
nature. |

Plantation Programme _
Students showed a lot of enthusiasm towards
it. They could know the art to appreciate
and understand the need to value the natural
environment. |

Ethnic Day – On
the occasion of the World Heritage Day on
21st May 2010, both the students and the
teachers were colourfully dressed in their
traditional attire so as to imbibe the
spirit of u nity in diversity and also to
foster a sense of continuity and
belongingness to one's culture. The students
displayed their respective cultural dances
which were filled with fun and frolic. |

Great Story – Wall
Project-
A creative activity wherein the students
from classes VIII to XIII participated and
showed a lot of talent in folk story
writing. Students divided themselves into
groups and worked on their script. Their
stories were then displayed in a digital
artwork by Acoustic Traditional Unit among
others on a 100 mt stretch of cloth banner
in Palzor Namgyal Girls Senior Sec School,
Gangtok. |

Debate – 13.08.10
The current topics like "Corporal Punishment
should be allowed in school" and "Mobile
phones should not be used during school
life" were the topics of the debate for the
seniors and the juniors respectively. Their
arguments were tough and bold. The best
speaker chosen were:-
Jasmin Lepcha IX – For the topic
Abishek Thapa X – Against the topic
Messang Subba XI – For the topic
Bhawana Basnett XII – Against the topic |

Science
Exhibition – The school organized the
Science Exhibition on 10th Oct 2010 on a
massive scale which was a grand success,
widely appreciated by the Chief Guest –
Shri N.K Pradhan Hon'ble Minister for HRDD and Guest of
Honour – Shri D.B Thapa Hon;ble Minister for UD and HD and
the senior Govt. officier Mr. M. L Arrawatia,
Secretary, Science and Technology, Mr.
Rajesh Verma, Principal Director,
information Technology and Mr. Bhaskar
Basnet, Councillor, Tadong Municipality. Mr.
Arrawatia and Mr. Rajesh Verma Kindly
consented to be the judges for the
exhibition. The Hon'ble Minister Sri N.K
Pradhan inaugurated the newly set-up library
as also the School Management Software (Send
SMS) installed by Green Dale School to
Stupendous applause from all guest. The models that
won the prizes were:
1st – Carbon Cycle Class XII
2nd – Planned City with Rain Detector Class
X
3rd – Buglar's Alarm Class XII |

Library
The Science Exhibition was preceded by the
opening of the School's new library by the
Chief Guest, The Hon'ble Minister for HRDD.
A vast numbers of new books were added to
the existing collection. Magazines and
newspapers are being subscribed to on a
regular basis. |
