Late Mr. A. Dhungel, the owner of the land and house was involved in a lot of social works so it was his idea that prompted the initiation of School by the name of Green Dale. The name was derived from the fact that the area was located in the environment surrounded by green trees and shrubs so the name aptly blended with the surroundings.
The school was started with mere 5 students in the year 1994.

The school is located about 4 kms away from the main town, Gangtok. The school is adjacent to the Agriculture complex of ICAR and has a quiet ambience well suited for educational institutions and serves as a catalyst for learning. The campus exclusively houses the school complex and the Church.

The emblem symbolizes the dissemination of knowledge for better career guidance of awareness about available opportunities and prospects and to endorse social and  moral values.
